Mabe

On Tuesday night at a special Board of Education meeting, the Union R-XI Board of Education hired Dr. Mike Mabe, current Deputy Superintendent, as the 24/25 District Superintendent.

Dr. Mabe has been in education for 23 years and has been an instrumental part of Union’s success over the past several years. Dr. Mabe was hired nine years ago as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and was promoted to Deputy Superintendent three years ago. Prior to that, Dr. Mabe was a Superintendent in Diamond Missouri and an elementary principal and teacher in Sullivan Missouri.

‘Though I’ll be in a different role, I’m extremely excited for this new opportunity in Union and look forward to continuing to serve this great community and our school district. We have amazing team members and we have amazing students and parents. And because of all their efforts we have accomplished so much. The future for #unionrxi is bright and I’m absolutely honored to be part of this wonderful school district.’ ~ Dr. Mike Mabe

On behalf of the Board of Education, Board President, Dr. Virgil Weideman, had this to say about Dr. Mabe, ‘Dr. Mabe is an extremely qualified individual. He’s previously served as a Superintendent, so he understands the role and the responsibilities associated with the position. Additionally, Dr. Mabe has contributed immensely to our district the past several years as our Deputy Superintendent and we are excited for his journey to continue.’

Dr. Mabe has five children (four currently attending #unionrxi schools and one 2020 graduate of UHS). Additionally, Joanie Mabe, Dr. Mabe’s wife, teaches third grade at Beaufort Elementary and has been a teacher in the district for the past eight years. The entire Mabe family is deeply involved in the Union community and they are all looking forward to this next adventure!

Dr. Scott Hayes, current Superintendent, is retiring after 31 years in education and three years as Union’s Superintendent. Dr. Mabe’s duties as Superintendent will begin July 1, 2024.

Please take a moment to congratulate Dr. Mabe on his new position!
