 Long-Term Disability

Long-term disability is available to active employees working at least 30 hours per week on a regularly scheduled basis. Long-term Disability insurance pays you a portion of your earnings if you cannot work because of a disabling illness or injury. You must be disabled for at least 90 days before you are eligible to receive a benefit payment.

 Paid Leave Days 

Employees whose assignments call for at least 30 hours per week on a regular basis during the regular school term will receive paid leave time as follows:

 

                                  Nine- and ten-month employees will receive 12 days of leave per year.

                                  Eleven-month employees will receive 13 days of leave per year.

                                  Twelve-month employees will receive 14 days of leave per year. 

 

In the instance of full-time employees hired after the beginning of the school year, days awarded will be prorated at 1 + 1 day per working month remaining in the school year. A portion of a month will not be counted.

 

The maximum number of leave days that can be carried over from year to year is 180. At the end of each year, the district will pay the employee for any leave day above the 180-day maximum at the rate of $40 per day.

 

Paid Vacation  

Classified Staff

Classified Staff hired to work 12 months per year shall be as follows: 

 

                                 Full-time, 12-month employees will receive ten days of paid vacation per fiscal year beginning July 1.

                                 Full-time, 12-month employees entering their tenth consecutive year of full-time employment will receive 15 days of paid vacation per fiscal year beginning July 1. 

 

For new employees hired after July 1, the amount of vacation will be prorated. New employees serving fewer than 12 months but more than six months prior to July 1will receive a pro rata vacation. New employees hired after January 1 will not qualify for vacation until July 1 of that year. New employees will have a 90-day probation period before using any vacation days.

 

Certified Staff

Certified Staff under contract for 12 months, with the exception of the superintendent and/or those who have been approved by the superintendent, shall be as follows:

 

                                 Full-time, 12-month employees will receive ten days of paid vacation per fiscal year beginning July 1.

                                 Full-time, 12-month employees entering their fifth through completion of their ninth consecutive year of full-time employment will receive 15 days of paid vacation per fiscal year beginning July 1.

                                 Full-time, 12-month employees entering their tenth consecutive year of full-time employment will receive 20 days of paid vacation per fiscal year beginning July 1.

Paid Holidays

Paid Holidays for full time, 12 month staff during the school year will be established when the Board adopts the school calendar and will normally include: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day and Fourth of July. Full time professional staff members who serve in a full time, 12 month position will be eligible for school scheduled breaks including district observed holidays, days scheduled off at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and spring break days when observed by the district. To view policy GDBDA click here.
