Last night at our regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting, the Board unanimously selected Dr. Dan Kania as our 26/27 Superintendent. Dr. Kania will officially begin his role as our next Superintendent on July 1, 2026.

We have the absolute best teachers and staff around and I couldn’t be more proud to serve as our next superintendent. My family and I have loved Union from the day we moved here 10 years ago and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I thank the Board for their trust in me and I can’t wait to continue being part of the amazing work we are doing here in Union. #Uproud”

The Board received 11 applications for the superintendent position and then the Board narrowed that candidate pool down to six to interview. The interviews were conducted in-district at Central Office last week on 10/8. The interview process consisted of three different interview teams. There was a parent team, a building staff team and a director/supervisor team. There were a total of 46 parents/staff who participated in the interviews. Each of these individuals ranked and provided specific feedback to our Board for review and consideration at the conclusion of the interviews.

The Board has the utmost confidence in Dr. Kania to lead our district in a manner that can make all of us proud. Homecoming Friday Night Lights!
Due to continued student safety concerns at home athletic events, there will be several new roped off areas prohibiting access. Students entering these prohibited areas will be asked to leave the game.
Additionally, we want to reiterate the importance of ALL students being accompanied AND monitored by an adult for the duration of the athletic event.
We appreciate your help in ensuring our athletic events are safe and enjoyable for all those in attendance.

Union High School will be hosting a football game this Friday against the St. Clair Bulldogs. Due to the large number of community members attending Friday night football games and the need for all younger students to be supervised and monitored for safety purposes, all elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by an adult in order to enter the football game. Additionally, it is expected that the parent/guardian not only accompany their elementary or middle school child(ren) to the game, but they are also responsible for monitoring their behavior at all times during the duration of the game.
Supervisors at the main entrances will monitor the students entering the games. This measure is intended to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, as well as to promote a respectful and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone in attendance. Elementary and middle school students who arrive unaccompanied by a parent/guardian will be turned away at the gate regardless of whether they’ve purchased a ticket. This will be our standard practice for all high school home athletic events. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us run events that are safely supervised for all patrons and participants.

Tomorrow is our last day to turn in fundraiser coupons for chickens. Students can still sell through the weekend and turn in their forms on Monday.
