This year's Kops and Kids food drive starts November 3rd and ends on November 21st. Please help if you can.

Good evening, #unionrxi:
As a district, we understand the significant and far-reaching implications of the current government shutdown. We recognize the shutdown has adversely affected many within our community. As such, we wanted to re-share the process one would need to follow to possibly qualify for Free and Reduced meals. If your family wages and household income have been negatively impacted by the government shutdown, you may now qualify for the Free and Reduced benefit when you previously may not have.
Please click this link with instructions on how to access Parent Portal to fill out the Free and Reduced form: https://www.unionrxi.org/o/urxisd/page/food-services
If you have any questions about this benefit, please contact our Food Service Department at 636.583.8626 and ask to speak with Stacie Eilers.
Additionally, because we are aware SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is set to expire at the end of October, our district is prepared to step up and help. Of course, a lot can change over the next few days with our government and the overall status of SNAP. Having said that, we wanted to provide some reassurance to our community that we are committed to helping.
IF SNAP expires and is NOT extended, the district will provide FREE breakfast for ALL #unionrxi students starting Monday, November 3.
Please note, this is IF and ONLY IF the government does not extend the SNAP benefit. Should the government extend and reinstate SNAP benefits, breakfast will cost and be treated just as it is now.
We understand this uncertainty for our community and our students is challenging, but it’s our hope this small gesture can provide our families some comfort and relief.
Thank you for your continued partnership and thank you for all you do for our community and district.

“I’m both thrilled and humbled for the opportunity to continue serving our district. We have the absolute best teachers and staff around and I couldn’t be more proud to serve as our next superintendent. My family and I have loved Union from the day we moved here 10 years ago and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I thank the Board for their trust in me and I can’t wait to continue being part of the amazing work we are doing here in Union. #Uproud”
~ Dr. Dan Kania
The Board received 11 applications for the superintendent position and then the Board narrowed that candidate pool down to six to interview. The interviews were conducted in-district at Central Office last week on 10/8. The interview process consisted of three different interview teams. There was a parent team, a building staff team and a director/supervisor team. There were a total of 46 parents/staff who participated in the interviews. Each of these individuals ranked and provided specific feedback to our Board for review and consideration at the conclusion of the interviews.
“On behalf of the Board of Education, we are very pleased to know Dr. Kania will be leading our district next school year and beyond. The Board has the utmost confidence in Dr. Kania to lead our district in a manner that can make all of us proud. We thank Dr. Mabe for all he has done for our district and wish him all the best in retirement. The future for #unionrxi continues to be bright!”
~ Dr. Virgil Weideman, Board of Education President
Congratulations to Dr. Kania!

Due to continued student safety concerns at home athletic events, there will be several new roped off areas prohibiting access. Students entering these prohibited areas will be asked to leave the game.
Additionally, we want to reiterate the importance of ALL students being accompanied AND monitored by an adult for the duration of the athletic event.
We appreciate your help in ensuring our athletic events are safe and enjoyable for all those in attendance.
