🍎 Can you believe it? We are nearly 100 days SMARTER! 🍎 Tentatively, this Tuesday marks the 100th Day of School! We are so excited to celebrate this milestone with our amazing students. ⚠️ A Quick Note for Parents: With winter weather always keeping us on our toes, please remember that if we have a snow day/school closure, the 100th-day festivities will be pushed back. We’ll keep you posted if the calendar shifts! 🎉 How to Celebrate: We want to see that 100-day spirit! Students are invited to get creative and join the fun by: • Dressing up like a 100-year-old! (Think gray hair, cardigans, and glasses!) 👵👴 • Rocking a 100th Day T-shirt! 👕 • Wearing 100 things! (Pinned ribbons, stickers, or even 100 pom-poms on a shirt!) 🎈 We can’t wait to see everyone’s "aged" looks and creative designs. What a blast last night was! 🤩 Beaufort Nerf Night 2026 was one for the books! 📚🤓 A huge shout-out to Coach Fennesey for organizing such a fantastic event! We are so lucky to have you. Every year, our students, staff, and parents walk away with the best memories—it truly is one of our favorite traditions! ✨ Huge thanks to our amazing STUCO for keeping us fueled with delicious pizza and running the best concession stand around! 🍕🥤 We already can’t wait for next year! Last night at our regularly scheduled January Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the hiring of Mr. Ryan Klein as the 26/27 Assistant Superintendent of Operations. Mr. Klein is currently the principal at Prairie Dell Elementary. Prior to his position at PDE, Mr. Klein was the assistant principal at Central Elementary. Before coming to Union, Mr. Klein served in a variety of roles in Iowa. This includes: elementary principal, middle and high school assistant principal and high school special education teacher.

Mr. Klein earned his specialist degree from Northwest Missouri State and is expected to complete his doctoral degree in 2027 from William Woods University. Mr. Klein resides in Washington with his wife, Andrea, and their three children.

This is what Mr. Klein had to say about serving our community in a new capacity:

“Though I’ve only been in Union for five years, I view the Union R-XI School District as my home. And I honestly couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to continue working in the district I love. Of course, I am sad to be leaving all the amazing staff and students at Prairie Dell Elementary, but I look forward to helping them in a slightly different way moving forward. We have an outstanding district with the best staff, students and parents, and I’m honored to be part of it all.”

Mr. Klein is filling the vacancy of Dr. Dan Kania who was recently appointed as our 26/27 district superintendent.

What an absolute blast at the Beaufort Annual Christmas Assembly today! 🎄✨ It was truly a magical, hilarious, and all-around wonderful way to kick off the holiday season. Here are some of our favorite highlights from the day: • Pucker Up! 🐷 We kicked things off with some big laughs watching Mrs. Toelke brave the stage to kiss the pig! What a great sport! • Musical Talents: Our Pre-K stars blew us away with their music, and the Choir sounded absolutely amazing on their song. We also couldn't get enough of 1st Grade and their adorable rendition of the ABCs! • Laughs & Games: Mrs. Mabe brought the Reindeer games and let’s not forget to mention the laughs with Whipped Cream, Streamers, and Post-it Notes. • Coach and Mr. G kept the energy high (and the jokes rolling!) during the Reindeer Games. • The Big Reveal: Congratulations to our 4th Grade students for taking home the win in the Gingerbread House contest! 🍭🏠 • Then A Trip Back in Time: Perhaps the most magical moment was seeing the "Time Machine" in action as Dr. Kania transformed into his adorable younger self (Drew Kania), pedaling across the stage on his favorite childhood memory—a classic red tricycle! 🚲 • The Guest of Honor: To top it all off, we had a very special visit from the big man himself, Santa Claus! 🎅 Thank you to all the staff, students, and parents who made this day so special. Our hearts are full and we are officially ready for Christmas!🎄

What a Whoville-tastic day at Beaufort Elementary! 🎄✨ The halls were extra bright today as we had some very special (and slightly green) visitors! The Grinch took a break from Mt. Crumpit to see if he could find the true meaning of Christmas, and our favorite Elf was right there to keep him on his best behavior! 💚❤️ From high-fives to heart-growing moments, it was the perfect way to start the day and to kick off our winter break. We loved seeing all the smiles and holiday spirit from our amazing students and staff! 🏫🎅
